The best of both worlds
The Transit Custom Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) utilises two separate power sources. A battery powered electric motor drives the vehicle, while its 1.0L Ford EcoBoost petrol engine works to recharge the hybrid battery and extend the vehicle’s range. The driver can select between three available EV modes, including EV Now which allows you to drive with zero emissions on electric-only power, to a targeted range of 35 miles. The PHEV battery can also be recharged using most AC network charging points.
Go further for less
Fully charged, the New Transit Custom Plug-In Hybrid’s can take you up to 35 miles (56 kilometres) using the electric motor alone (range may vary depending on the vehicle, weather conditions and driving behaviour). Ideal on those short trips in the city that usually result in low efficiency and more money spent on fuel. On longer journeys, the 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine helps to extend the van’s range – working with regenerative braking to recharge the battery. And once sufficiently charged, you can switch back to electric only, helping you save money and reduce pollution.
Re-charge your battery more efficiently
Unlike traditional systems, Smart Regenerative Charging only charges the battery when it needs it and, whenever possible, avoids doing so when you’re pressing the accelerator. This can help save even more fuel and further reduce emissions.
The New Transit Custom Plug-In Hybrid delivers reduced emissions without compromising any of the features that make Transit Custom the nation’s favourite commercial vehicle. With up to six cubic metres of loadspace, the van can effortlessly carry standard 8’ x 4’ boards or three euro pallets flat on the floor. And with the widest side load door-opening of any vehicle of its type, the New Transit Custom Plug-In Hybrid is perfectly suited to moving goods around the city as efficiently as possible. Boasting a max. gross payload exceeding 1,000kg, the Transit Custom Plug-In Hybrid is still capable of carrying heavy loads.
